Questions tagged [zombie]

Zombies are usually unintelligent undead, essentially reanimated corpses that seek to terrorize and consume the living. They can also be living humans infected with a terminal, rabies-like disease.

More recently, movies have featured faster running zombies and zombies that are not dead, but instead the victims of bio-weapons or a plague. These living zombies are usually not any different from the undead variety, except that they can usually run faster and be killed easier.

Why don't zombies eat each other?

In most zombie movies the undead only go after humans who are alive. Why is that? This applies also to the 'Infected' like the ones from the movie, '28 Days Later' and 'Dawn of the Dead' which, in my opinion I don't think are technically dead. What…

Aren't zombie outbreaks self defeating?

To me it seems that the mechanism by which zombies infect others is self defeating. Starting with the classic "Romero" zombies, the zombies want to eat brains. However, in order to kill a zombie, you need to destroy the brain. So, every human that…

Why do Zombies in films generally have limps?

I've noticed this trend that most, if not all, zombies in films tend to limp or walk extremely slowly. In fact, doesn't this take away from their "scariness" as they aren't fast and don't seem to be agile? Where did this stem from?

What Happens to Zombies that Don't Eat?

I'm not a zombie fan (other than the 60s rock group), so I haven't followed zombie movies too closely, but there's one question I have that I have yet to see answered here and answers seem to vary. And this isn't just about zombies starving. I know…

While arguing with a friend about 28 Days Later and how those aren't actually zombies, my friend stated that all zombie media have to follow Romero Rules of zombies or else they aren't actually zombie movies/books/whathaveyou. While reading Our…

Human Bites Zombie: What Happens?

I don't know much about zombies and haven't had much interest in them. I do know that, as with any creature, there are many different versions of what does and does not work. But I'm wondering about this in general - if it's addressed anywhere in…

Zombies: why are they so fast in recent movies?

I do understand the concept of the original slow zombies. They are slow, but numerous and they keep reproducing by biting livings and killing them. You are a human, you have no chance to make mistake, or be weak, if you do, you are doomed. Sleepy?…

Is there any zombie story where characters heard the term zombie apocalypse before the incident?

One thing that always intrigued me in zombie stories (books, TV, movies, games, etc.) is the fact that nobody seems to have ever heard of the term "zombie apocalypse" before it happened in their world. It always seemed unreal to me that in a modern…

I have thought about building a wall with two-way mirrors in certain spots so that I could see any and all activity around my base. I was wondering if, given what is known about typical zombie behavior, would they attack their own reflection? Of…

Zombie movies: "body protection" VS "sexy clothes"

I really love zombie movies, but one thing that I really hate is (for instance in walking dead) the "humans" walk in "shorts" and "tops", bare arms, big neckline, etc knowing that they will be bitten and die...... I am sure that the movie producers…

I have seen stories which cover frozen zombies, or ones that can go through the ocean. I don't think I have ever read a story that deals with Zombies in a desert environment. Potentially this would be a good escape route as they would dehydrate and…

Would survival in a zombie apocalypse be easier in a colder climate?

In a climate where the average temperature in the winter hangs around 0°F and summer around 90°F, I would think that zombies would freeze to the point where they couldn't move in the winter, then come summer, the decay would be so much that they…
