The "Wheel of Time" series is one of the most popular fantasy series today, started by Robert Jordan (the pen name of James Oliver Rigney Jr.) and finished by Brandon Sanderson working from notes left by Jordan after his decease. It is an epic fantasy series with a total of 14 books, plus the prequel New Spring and a forthcoming WoT Encyclopedia. The final book, A Memory of Light, was published on January 8th, 2013. Between them the books have 700 chapters, 4.4 million words, and over 2000 named characters, and they have sold more than 40 million copies.
