Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are a sewer dwelling team of four man-sized turtle martial artist comic book heroes who are led by Splinter, their rat sensei, against the evil ninjutsu master Shredder and his Foot Clan.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, martial artist heroes in a half-shell, debuted as comic book characters in 1984. Intended as a parody of mainstream comic book heroes, TMNT turned into a worldwide phenomenon. The franchise is made up of comics, merchandise, animated TV series and live action feature films. The four sewer dwelling turtles, Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello, and Michelangelo, each with his own colored ninja mask and weapons, are guided by their mutant rat sensei named Splinter, fight crime, and do battle against the evil Shredder, a ninjutsu master and leader of the Foot Clan.
