Stargate SG-1 (SG-1 for short) is the first series in the stargate saga.
In SG-1, a US military organization called Stargate Command sends teams of explorers through stargates to other planets in search for allies and new technologies to help fight off Earth's alien enemies.
SG-1 is the name of the foremost of these teams, commanded by Colonel Jack O'Neill.
The main antagonists are a parasitic alien race known as the Goa'uld, who pose as gods to less-advanced human civilizations that they seeded through-out the galaxy thousands of years ago.
