Mass Effect is a series of award-winning science fiction video games, developed by BioWare.

The series centres around a character named Commander Shepard and his/her mission to save the galaxy from a race of mechanical beings known as the Reapers and their disciples. This plays out across three separate Mass Effect games, as well as the novels and comics that have been released in this universe. There are also plans for both an animated and a feature film in the Mass Effect universe.

The series has been a major critical success with plaudits for their storyline, characters, and the choices available as the player explores the Mass Effect galaxy. The series maintains the idea that a player's choices actually affects the storyline throughout all three games.
