DuckTales follows the adventures of Scrooge McDuck (a character originally from Disney's retelling of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol), Donald Duck (who remains his nephew), and their three nephews Huey, Dewey and Louie (Donald is not as central a character in the original series). The series introduced the additional characters Launchpad McQuack (who would later cross over to the darkwing-duck TV series), Mrs. Beakley (Scrooge's housekeeper), and Webby Vanderquack (Beakley's grand-daughter).
