Does Mishlei not see the good in being a Guarantor for a Gemach loan?
Mishlei 22 (26, 27) says
אַל־תְּהִ֥י בְתֹֽקְעֵי־כָ֑ף בַּ֝עֹרְבִ֗ים מַשָּׁאֽוֹת׃
אִם־אֵֽין־לְךָ֥ לְשַׁלֵּ֑ם לָ֥מָּה יִקַּ֥ח מִ֝שְׁכָּבְךָ֗
מִתַּחְתֶּֽיךָ׃
Do not be one of those who give their hand, Who stand surety for
