I wish to know, who as an entity can be at war with another party according to Islam?
A state, an instititution, a family or a person?
Also, what reasons and opponents are permitted to declare war or to be at war?

if you defect in war to the enemy side is it haram? if so would it still be if the side you are fighting for is bad/evil (nazis,commuists,etc). would it stil be haram?

Why does Islam promote the spreading of the faith through war?
This verse in the Quran also states the same.
