Fitrah (in Arabic الفطرة) is the state of innocence Muslims believe all humans are born with.

al-Fitrah (in Arabic الفطرة) means the state of innocence Muslims believe all humans are born with. It is usually used as innate nature, original disposition and natural constitution. It is mentioned in both the quran and sunnah:

  • Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "No child is born but has the Islamic Faith, but its parents turn it into a Jew or a Christian. It is as you help the animals give birth. Do you find among their offspring a mutilated one before you mutilate them yourself?" The people said, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! What do you think about those (of them) who die young?" The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Allah knows what they would have done (were they to live)." (Sahih al-Bukhari)

  • No child is born but upon Fitra. He then said. Recite: "The nature made by Allah in which He created man, there is no altering of Allah's nature; that is the right religion (30:30)." (Sahih Muslim)

  • Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "Five practices are characteristics of the Fitra: circumcision, shaving the pubic region, clipping the nails and cutting the moustaches short." (Sahih al-Bukhari)

  • Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "To shave the pubic hair. to clip the nails and to cut the moustaches short, are characteristics of the Fitra." (Sahih al-Bukhari)

I want to ask that is it compulsory in islam for men to shave the armpit and pubic hair? If we will not shave what will be the precautions? If it is compulsory to shave how and when we should shave?

Zakat ul Fitr farz or wajib

Our Imam of the Mosque says that Zakat Ul Fitr is wajib on every Muslim who is Sahib-e-Nisab but if He/She is not he/she can pay it. Is it Really the fact?
