In Hinduism, there is a mention of dream. Mandukya Upanishad, one of the oldest upanishads, states dream as one of the stages of life. Chandogya upanishad discusses four consciousnesses, among which dream-filled sleep is also one. There are many stories involving God appearing in devotees dream. This led to the discovery of the idols of the God and construction of many Hindu temples.
