This question has nothing to do with feminism or anything else. In Vedic or Hindu religion every step has deep meaning or significance. I know the significance of sacred oaths taken during Saptapadi. But during Saptapadi while walking around the fire (Agni deva) why does the bride always walk first before bridegroom?
It would be great to know the significance of bride leading the groom from scriptures. Please do not give self-made explanations.
Note: This is not a duplicate of What are the Saptapadi or the seven promises of marriage? which is a general question and doesn't deal with the specific question asked here.
