There seem to be two prominent grips for drawing that I have seen - tripod and overhand. I've used a basic tripod grip all my life for writing but have only recently come across overhand. From what I've read, basic tripod appears better for small details, whereas overhand seems to be better for larger strokes (correct me if I've got this wrong).
Which joint should I mostly be using with an overhand grip? (wrist / elbow / shoulder / a combination).
Is this grip practical for painting? (or is it exclusive to dry medium)
Are there other benefits to using an overhand grip, apart from large flowing strokes?
N.b., I have generally seen the overhand grip at a larger angle to the drawing surface - a similar angle to the underhand tripod in this image.
