Five. But first you have to remove the yolks. (Don’t worry, it’s not very difficult.)

A cake recipe which calls for egg whites is definitely going to have you beat them, and whole eggs won’t beat in the same way. They cannot be used as a substitute for egg whites in a cake recipe.

Roundabout 3, given eggs don't do fractions well.

(Chicken) eggs average 2/3 white to 1/3 yolk, roughly. So 5 whites would be 3.3 whole eggs, weight-equivalent.

Depending on the recipe specifics, whites and yolks don't behave the same (if this is an angel food cake, or other recipe depending on beaten egg whites for leavening, it won't work the same at all.)
