Magnus Carlsen (1990-) is a Norwegian Grandmaster and current World Champion. While Magnus is still a work in progress he's been developing a superb positional game and backing away from his earlier tactical tendencies.

Magnus Carlsen has been rated #1 in the world (off-and-on) since January of 2010. He hasn't been rated lower than #2 since (as of June 2012.)

Why do pro chess players look up (look at the ceiling) when waiting for their move?

When players like Magnus Carlsen and Viswanathan Anand finish their move, they sometimes look up while they wait. Shouldn't they be looking at the board to see their next move?
