How to buy a lot of LEGO Technic bricks?

At first, I bought 6 lbs of LEGO Technic bricks. however it was dirty and used. Also there were only holed bricks and I can't find many gears or axles. I want to make Technic creations or MOC's, but I don't know how to get enough bricks to make it.
