LEGO® Technic was introduced in 1977 as a more advanced system allowing users to create vehicles and other machines.

The classic LEGO bricks were modified with the addition of holes down their length, allowing for axles to be threaded through, and pegs to clip them together.

Power is supplied through axles, cranks, gears and motors.

In 1984 the LEGO Group partnered with the Media Laboratory at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, which among others led to the development and release of the Technic Computer Control system in 1986 and in 1998. Mindstorms NXT was released in 2006 and can be enhanced with microphones, cameras, and other sensors.

Why do technic bushings have a flat side and a wavy side?
