When did LEGO start adding a progress-bar to build instructions?
Set #40549 has a stud moving along a progress bar at the bottom of each pair of pages, as you move through the instructions. The stud moves left to right.
I've never seen this in any other instruction booklet.
Why does this set have it?
Are there…

Mechanical auto-unblocking mechanism
I have a GBC module1 which is quite simple but blocks regularly because a ball happens to be at just the wrong place at the wrong moment.
Per se, it's not a problem as a Technic Gear 24 Tooth Clutch protects the motor and the module can easily be…

In LEGO: How to build a revolving magazine rack for 2x3 tiles?
I've been trying for months to come up with a design or parts for a 4-sided spinning magazine rack, like the old wire-style you would see in book stores. I need it to be fairly stable so I can put in/pull out 2x3 tiles [printed with magazine…

Which current wave (2018 onwards) Harry Potter set should I buy to make 12 Grimmauld Place?
I would really want LEGO to make an official model of 12 Grimmauld Place, the magical house in London used by the Order of the Phoenix.

What is the LEGO code for this part used as a camcorder?
Can anyone help me ID this part for my son? I think it comes from when I was a kid in the 80s-90s. I THINK that it had a VHS-type piece tacked to its side to be a camcorder, but don't quote me on that.

How were these building instructions from the 1970s produced?
Have a look at page 7 of the instructions for set 367, produced in the year 1975 (source: Peeron.com):
How were these instructions produced? Were they hand-drawn or computer-generated? If the latter, which computer system and software were used?
