Will playing with a PF train motor by hand damage it?

If one pushes a PF-motorized train by hand, will it cause damage to the motor, or any of the other parts (IR Receiver, Battery box)? It is essentially working as a generator when turned by hand, so will that current damage it?

Can you give me some advice how to make it so motor will be in the middle, but at the same time keep the functionality of the 2 axles on the sides? It can go further up if necessary.

Is this a LEGO part? rectangular base with sides, and a bar extending from the middle

I distinctly remember separating this part from some Bionicle parts. But is it a original LEGO part? There are no part numbers or other marks on this piece - except for a "2" (seems to be the right font for a LEGO piece - injecting mold production…

Is there difference between different colors of LEGO axles?

There are a few different colors of LEGO Technic axles, but not enough to really use for artistic variation - black, grey, some beige, and recently I have started seeing blue. The particular color used in different Technic sets seems arbitrary to…

Are there any great LEGO designers that are well-known?

I know that many designers work for LEGO but I was wondering if there was some 'Star Designers' that we should know by name. Of course, I would also like to know what they are famous for.

Is there an official LEGO terminology for the features of basic pieces?

When I read this question I remember to regularly ask myself what the features of bricks are called. At the top are there nibbles, knobs, or studs? At the bottom are there tubes? New bricks also have little "support walls" (?) at the bottom, known…

Remove 3, maybe 4, decades old PVA glue from Lego

A friend of mine gave me a large crate of Lego that he found in the house he just bought. It appears to be several sets from the late 70's. (I spotted the building instructions for the 850 and 851 Technic sets in there.) Unfortunately that crate…

What LEGO piece is this arc with ball joint?

I cannot find a part number on it. It has the official logos on the studs. What is this? What theme does it originate from? It looks like a combination of a 4x4 plate, a 5x2 plate and an arc with a ball joint.

Is this grid fin piece a standard LEGO brick?

I'm trying to identify the circled part from this MoC, but I haven't been successful in doing so. On the one hand, the creator of this has called out two other parts in it (not shown here) as being modifications of existing bricks; but didn't say…

What was wrong with monorails?

From this answer: Then there's the whole problem of parts which are simply not in production any longer, and for which the cost of reproducing them would offset the potential benefits of reissuing sets. (In other words, don't expect monorails to be…

How should I go about selling a large number of unsorted LEGO sets?

Here is my problem. Over the years my son had me buy a large number of Star Wars sets (including 10179, 10188, 6211, 7676, 7675) and he built them. Then he traded (or lost) most of the mini-figs except for those in the death star. He has all but…
