Metropolitan Rome

The Metropolitan City of Rome Capital (Italian: Cittร  metropolitana di Roma Capitale) is an administrative region in the Lazio Region of Italy. The region outside of the city provides lots of opportunities for day trips, and can be worth deeper exploration for its archaeological sites, beach towns, and charming villages.

With 4.4 million inhabitants, nearly 3 million of these in the city of Rome, it is Italy's largest urban region.

  • ๐ŸŒ Cerveteri โ€” Home to a UNESCO-listed Etruscan necropolis
  • ๐ŸŒ Civitavecchia โ€” A sea port accommodating an increasing number of ferries and large cruise ships.
  • ๐ŸŒ Fiumicino โ€” A traditional fishing harbour with lot of restaurants serving fresh seafoods.
  • ๐ŸŒ Frascati โ€” The town is famous for its posh manor houses which were built from the 16th century onwards by the Roman aristocracy.
